Top Gear Russia presenters

Top Gear Russia was a Russian adaptation of the BBC's Top Gear. Top Gear Russia premiered on the 22nd of February, 2009. It closely followed the format of the British version, and was presented by Nikolai Fomenko (a pop star and a race car driver), Mikhail Petrovsky (an actor and motor journalist), and Oskar Kuchera (an MTV Russia presenter). The show was cancelled due to low ratings and concluded on the 25th of October, 2009. The sole series of Top Gear Russia aired on Ren-TV and contained 10 episodes.

Segments[]

This version of the show featured several segments, mostly borrowed from the UK version of Top Gear:

  • Power laps: Unlike the UK version, these laps were much more tongue-in-cheek and tended to use older vehicles, with the 1985 Porsche 911 ending up 3rd fastest out of the 17 cars tested.
  • Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car: Various Russian celebrities piloted a race-prepped Lada Kalina around the track.
  • The Cool Wall: Introduced in the second episode, this segment mirrored the original version.
