The fourth episode of the third series of Top Gear aired on the 16th of November, 2003. It was presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The White Stig. Rich Hall and Jay Kay were the guest stars, the latter having appeared previously in Series 1, Episode 2. It was the 24th episode overall.
Synopsis[]
As 2003 marked Lamborghini's 40th anniversary, Jeremy saw it fitting to celebrate this feat with an episode dedicated to the Italian marque.
Tonight...[]
- Richard drives a green Lamborghini...
- James drives a blue Lamborghini...
- And [Jeremy] drive[s] a yellow Lamborghini.
In later broadcasts and on streaming services, the Tonight sequence comments are replaced with new comments, including Jeremy most notably mentioning that on Today's show.. the new lines are as follows;
- James samples two 70s supercars...
- Richard thrashes some spicier Minis...
- And [Jeremy] get[s] sideways in the latest Lamborghini.
Airing History[]
Series 3, Episode 4 originally aired on the 16th of November, 2003, on BBC 2. It was then regularly reshown on channels such as BBC Prime and UKTV People throughout the mid '00s, along with the rest of Series 3, before indefinitely ending up as a permanent fixture on Dave from the channel's 2007 debut onwards, albeit in a cut 45-minute version. It would later appear on streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and IPlayer.
Episode Names[]
Though never given a name upon its original airing, much like every other episode of Top Gear, two slightly different names were retrospectively applied to the episode by the BBC years later:
- Top Gear's section on BBC's website calls it "The Lambos".
- Top Gear's own website calls it "The one with all the Lambos".
Trivia[]
- Jay Kay was the first repeat guest, having appeared previously in the series. This time around he appears due to lending the Top Gear team his own Lamborghini Miura.
- The Lamborghini Murciélago was the first car to have a repeated Power lap with the intent of topping the Power Lap Board, which it succeeded. Its original lap time of 1:29.0 was set during the very first episode of 2002-format Top Gear.
