Not to be confused with the Cop Car Challenge from Series 32.

Police Car Challenge from Series 11, Episode 1 consisted of the trio building police cars out of second hand cars for under a thousand quid.

The Cars[]

Jeremy brought a Fiat Coupe that he bought for £900, James had a Lexus LS400 for the same price and Richard bought a 1994 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GLX 4x4 for £750. Despite being ridiculed by Jeremy and James for his car choice, Richard won the most points due to his car being cheaper than the others.

A few days later, the hosts came back with their converted police cars. James outfitted his Lexus with a classic British police livery, a single blue rotary light on the roof, an ice cream van chime as the siren, and 4 nozzles on the rear bumper that spray a cloud of pink paint. Jeremy's Fiat Coupe was outfitted with a livery inspired by Italian police cars and Boudicea spikes attached to the back wheels. Richard's Vitara was outfitted with several police lights and a bullbar that holds a stinger, which, as commented by Jeremy Clarkson, consisted of doormats with nails on them.

Challenges[]

Test 1 - Power Lap and Flamboyancy[]

The first challenge consisted of doing a power lap around the Top Gear test track quicker than a Vauxhall Astra diesel police car driven by The Stig. Points would be added for flamboyancy.

Stig's time 1:48
James' time 2:00
Jeremy's time 2:08
Richard's time 3:14

None of the hosts were able to beat the Stig's time, but Richard scored a point for flamboyancy due to him hitting boxes placed to the side of the track.

Test 2 - Handling road accident[]

The second challenge involved driving to the scene of a road accident and clearing it of debris and victims in under two minutes. At first, it was difficult for them to safely remove vehicle occupants, but they did well to clear off all vehicles involved in the accident.

Test 3 - Stopping the carjacked BMW[]

The third and final challenge was to stop a stolen BMW driven by the Stig. James went first and used the nozzles on his rear bumper to spray the BMW's windscreen with pink paint, which wasn't very effective as The Stig used the wipers of his car to remove it. Richard went second and deployed the stinger that he had built, but it wasn't long enough. Finally, Jeremy went in with his chariot style wheel attachments, which resulted in a catastrophic failure for the Fiat after it's rear-left wheel came off and narrowly avoided hitting a cameraman. In the end, none were successful in stopping the BMW.

The Final Results[]

Richard claimed to have won by a single point, although this could not be officially proven as Richard ate the paper.
