The Nissan GT-R is four-seat Japanese supercar that was produced by Nissan. It is the long-awaited successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R.
Back when it was designed the GT-R was considered the most technical car ever made. Its 3.8 L twin-turbocharged V6 engine is handmade in a vacuum so that the parts do not microscopically expand. The tyres are filled with Nitrogen as it's more stable than air and the body was designed to maximise the airflow. The chassis was tuned by Lotus and four-wheel drive system tweaked to improve grip. Swivel headlights were removed due to car's fast cornering speed.
Nissan released many limited-edition models with slight performance tweak. In 2013 (as 2014 model), Nissan released a Nismo variant which has notably fastest lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:08, only 9 seconds behind the Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package in 2013, which was the first major manufacturer production car to break under 7 minutes. However, GT-R Nismo was later classified as a non-production car category.
In 2017, GT-R received a facelift a notably a unique front look; GT-R Nismo retain its shape but also got refreshed. In 2019, Nissan revealed a 50th anniversary redesigned with much like an exotic car badged as GT-R50 (by Italdesign). The most powerful version with 711-hp. However, production was postponed until 2020 to meet the street-road legal.
The GT-R is one of the few cars to earn the respect of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Jeremy and James, in particular, have used the GT-R on several occasions.
In 2022, the UK-spec model (including European-spec) was discontinued in March 2022, due to unable to meet the new noise regulation which takes effect in June 2022. Soon, the car will withdraw on the outside markets.

- In Series 11, Episode 4, Jeremy races the GT-R against James and Richard in the Bullet Train across Japan. Despite finding it emotionless, Jeremy enjoys the GT-R and wins the race.
- In Series 11, Episode 5, Jeremy reviews the GT-R at the Fukashima Race Track. He praises the cars immense speed, brutal acceleration, reasonable comfort and handling as well as it's neck-snapping handling. The GT-R sets a lap time of 1:19.7 around the Top Gear Test Track in the Hands of The Stig.
- In Top Gear Australia, S01E07, Pizzati tests the GT-R but feels infuriated by the Nissan Speed Limiter, despite praising everything else. Round the track, the Stig sets a lap of 1:09.46.
- In Clarkson: Thriller, though he praises its dynamic abilities, Jeremy criticizes the GT-R's lack of emotion or thrill, stating "it let him down."
- In Top Gear Australia, S02E07, the now delimited GT-R is sent round the track, where it proves to be the second-fastest car with a time of 1:07.06.
- In Series 17, Episode 4, Jeremy compared the facelifted GT-R to the Jaguar XKR-S, and he concluded that the cheaper, faster, more comfortable, more practical, nicer to drive, more exciting Nissan blew the doors of the Jag. Round the Top Gear Test Track at the hands of The Stig, the GT-R then set a blistering lap time of 1:17.8.
- In Top Gear Australia, S04E03, the now facelifted GT-R is sent round the track, where it proves to be the fastest car with a time of 1:21.72.
- In Clarkson: Powered Up, Jeremy proves that the facelifted GT-R is faster round the corners, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Performante and the Volkswagen Jetta and manages to beat the McLaren MP4-12C in a nose race. Despite this Jeremy, states it's "very clever but almost too serious."
- In Series 20, Episode 2, a GT-R travels at a speed of 92mph through the follow through during Jeremy's review of the BAC Mono
- In Series 21, Episode 4, Jeremy attempts to prove that cars are better than motorbikes by allowing a GT-R to pull a table cloth of a table without moving the cutlery. Despite the Stig driving, the test ultimately fails.
- In Top Gear USA "Snow Snow" Foust is rewarded by racing a GT-R against a Snow speeder which he ultimately loses.
- In Series 22, Episode 2, James chooses the GT-R to take on the Northern Territory against Richard in the Bentley Continental GT V8S and Jeremy in the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. He praises the car's handling, speed, and focused drive, stating it would be his choice easily.
