The episode faced a barrage of controversy in early 2016 when Matt LeBlanc and Ken Block were sighted filming at the Cenotaph in London, a war memorial. British tabloids labelled the stunt as 'disrespectful', prompting both the BBC and Chris Evans to offer formal and informal apologies. Evans assured that footage of the Cenotaph would not be aired as part of the show.
