The Triumph Herald was a small two-door car introduced in 1959 by the Standard-Triumph Company of Coventry. Body design was by the Italian stylist Michelotti and the car was offered in saloon, convertible, coupé, van, and estate models.

Total Herald sales numbered well over 300,000 and the Vitesse, Spitfire and GT6 were all based on modified Herald chassis and running gear with bolt-together bodies. Today, the Herald is seen as a classic car, and are still seen on British roads in the early 21st century.

Appearances[]

  • In First Amphibious Car Challenge, May picks a Triumph Herald as a sail boat without the outboard engine, he was late on meet up albeit have to take alternate route despite it's mast height. On lake his amphibious car work well rather travels at low speed, after Clarkson's Toybota capsized then raising back to the surface it suffers clutch failure. His sailing impression was boring.
  • In Second Amphibious Car Challenge, May picks the same Triumph Herald with some changes such as a retractable mast. However, it struggled in the rough seas at Dover and later sank twice. May jumped ship to Richard's Dampervan, which also sank and the two jumped abroad to Jeremy's Nissank. They missed to Calais, but in Sangette, Northern France.
